because of the low density of perlite
Nobody wants to dissappoint with a bad filtration job or worry about their customers with an inefficient production process.
That’s why it’s important that you can choose a solution that can be customized to your unique challenges.
A reliable solution for a wide range of filtration needs
Perlite filter aids are used in many industries where you need stable and predictable filtration. If your production depends on consistent results, choosing the right filter aid becomes important.
You’ll often see perlite used in food and beverage production, where quality needs to stay the same from batch to batch. It’s also used in chemical processing to remove unwanted particles and help protect equipment.
In pharmaceutical and biotech production, filtration supports strict quality requirements. Perlite is also used in water treatment and industrial fluids.
Across all these applications, reliable filtration is key to keeping your production running as expected.
Challenges you may recognize from your own production
Filtration doesn’t always perform as expected, and it’s not always clear why. You may notice that results vary from batch to batch, or that your process takes longer than it should. In some cases, production may stop due to clogging or unstable flow.
This can affect both efficiency and product quality, and over time it can become costly. Often, the reason is that the filter aid doesn’t fully match your process.
By choosing the right type and structure, many of these challenges can be reduced or avoided. We help you identify what’s holding your filtration back and find a solution that works for your production.

What to consider when choosing a filter aid
Choosing the right filter aid can feel difficult, especially when your production depends on stable results. In many cases, it comes down to one simple question: what matters most in your process?
If you need a fast flow-through rate to keep production moving, a coarser grade is often the right choice. If your focus is on removing smaller particles and achieving higher clarity, a finer grade will be more suitable.
In many cases, the right solution is a balance between the two. We help you find that balance, so your filtration works as expected.

Understanding the differences between filter types
It’s not always easy to compare filter aids just by their names. Each type is designed to support a different need in your filtration process, and choosing the right one can make a clear difference.
Coarser grades allow liquid to pass through more easily and are often used when keeping your flow stable is important. Medium grades offer a balance between flow and filtration.
Finer grades are used when you need to remove smaller particles and achieve higher clarity.
Knowing the differences helps you avoid choosing the wrong solution. We guide you, so your filtration stays stable and reliable.
Why many choose perlite for filtration
There are several types of filter aids available, and choosing between them can be challenging. You need a solution that works reliably in your production without adding unnecessary complexity.
Perlite offers a combination of properties that makes it a practical choice in many situations. Its low density means you use less material, which helps keep costs under control. At the same time, its structure supports consistent filtration across different processes.

HAVE ANY QUESTIONS
Is it difficult to find the right product for my unique filtration job?
With more than 45 years in the filtration, construction and horticulture industry, we have helped thousands of customers with bespoke solutions to their unique challenges. We can help you, too!
How do I get rid of the used perlite filter aid?
Perlite is basically a rock which came from nature and can return to nature after use. It is approved for soil improvement and many of our customers have found a local farmer who can use the used filter aid on his lands.
If the solids left in the filter medium is an organic material it can serve as organic fertilizer on the field.
Is perlite dust dangerous to breathe for our staff?
Perlite is amorphous and it does not damage lung tissue the way crystalline products can. The MSDS presents no hazards to human health.
However, as with all dust particles, precautions such as wearing a dust-mask are advised when handling the product.
Is perlite bad for the environment having been expanded under high temperature using natural gas?
The heat we use at Nordisk Perlite is re-distributed for district heating. By expanding the raw material 10-20 times, we obtain a high product yield.
We have 100 % use of our raw perlite, so nothing goes to waste. All of these process features allow us to keep the carbon footprint lower than competition.
In many cases our products are used for another purpose after their first usage, which adds to your sustainability agenda and a circular economy.
