Perlite is a ph neutral, inert rock that will have very limited adverse reaction to other materials in your mix, the only exception being its adsorption of water in its hydrophilic form.
Hydrophilic (un-coated) perlite will adsorb around 5 times its weight in water.
Fore sure! You can never make them lighter than the lightest material in your formulation, which will likely be perlite, but you have to watch out for end product strength and shock resistance. We will help advise you on the optimal dosage for your formulation.
