With perlite in your substrate you can achieve that balance and your plants will thank you for it.
Give your plants the best conditions
to grow, stay healthy and yield
more crop by adding perlite to
your substrate
Your plant roots require air, nutrients and water to thrive. In dry times, you want the substrate to keep the moisture and when it is time for watering, you want the substrate to shed the excess water to provide air to the roots. Our horticultural perlite helps to do just that.

Make your green roof and green wall substrates lighter by adding perlite to your soil mix
- Thanks to the light weight of perlite, you can make your substrate solutions lighter and achieve your overall weight targets for your green wall or green roof project.
- Perlite is the preferred lightweight mineral addition to substrates due to its water-holding capacity of 5-6 times its weight.

HAVE ANY QUESTIONS
Thanks to its light weight, perlite offers more volume per kilo than other minerals. This is why you should look at the price per metric cube rather than the price per kilo.
Not exactly. While leca and pumice are great additions to your substrate, perlite is second-to-none when it comes to offering quick water adsorption, aeration to the roots and a sterile and light-weight addition to your substrate.
At Nordisk Perlite, we are using natural gas to create the flames with which perlite ore is expanded. The same heat is also used to heat up water for district heating and in this way, the environmental impact is minimized.
Since perlite is inorganic, and because all potential organic material has been burned off in the manufacturing process, perlite is completely sterile and will not interact adversely with your plant roots or the nutrients you choose to add.
We have documentation that shows crop yield could be improved with as much as 46% using perlite instead of peat moss in tomato production.
